Installation guide

Getting AiLocally on your Mac.

Until we're enrolled in the Apple Developer Program, you'll see a one-time security prompt the first time you open AiLocally. Here's the full flow — 90 seconds, three clicks.

1

Open the DMG and drag to Applications

Double-click the downloaded AiLocally.dmg file. A window opens with the AiLocally icon on the left and an Applications shortcut on the right.

Drag the AiLocally icon onto the Applications folder. macOS copies the app over in a second or two.

When the copy finishes, you can eject the DMG (right-click → Eject) and trash the file.

2

Right-click AiLocally → Open (just the first time)

Open your Applications folder (Finder → Applications, or ⇧⌘A). Find AiLocally, right-click (or Control-click) on it, and choose Open from the menu.

macOS will show a security dialog saying "macOS cannot verify the developer of AiLocally". Click Open.

Why this happens: Apple charges $99/year for the Developer ID program that bypasses this dialog. We're getting that set up — until then, this one-time right-click trick is the workaround. Once you've opened it once, macOS remembers your decision and launches normally forever after.
3

Activate your license

Inside the app, open Settings → License. Paste the license key from your purchase email and click Activate license.

That's it. The badge flips to Active and you're in. From now on, AiLocally runs offline — the license is verified locally on every launch, no server needed.

Lost your key? Recover it by email — we'll resend.

Something not working?

"App is damaged and can't be opened" error

This usually means the download was interrupted. Re-download from ai-locally.com/download and try again.

If the second download also fails, you can clear the macOS quarantine flag in Terminal:

xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/AiLocally.app
"Right-click → Open" isn't showing up

Make sure you're right-clicking on the AiLocally app inside Applications, not on the DMG icon or inside the DMG. Trackpad users: two-finger-tap or Control-click works the same.

"The license key is malformed" when I paste

Make sure you copied the entire key (starts with eyJhbGci…, ends with a random-looking string). In some email clients, triple-click on the key block to select the whole thing. The app tolerates line breaks inside the key, but missing characters will fail.
